The dedication and open house dates for the Tallahassee, Florida Temple have been announced by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Eastern, Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the Tallahassee Florida Temple. The two dedicatory ceremonies will be broadcast to all units within the new temple district.

We’ll release more information on the open house and dedication later. The dates of the dedication and open house were first announced on ChurchofJesusChrist.org on Monday, July 1.

After the Orlando, Florida, temple in 1994 and the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, temple in 2014, the Tallahassee temple will be the third house of the Lord dedicated by the Church in the state.

The Orlando temple, which has been open for thirty years, will be closed this month for major repairs. The closure was announced in February of this year.

Since 2022, plans for two additional Florida temples—in Tampa and Jacksonville—have been announced and are under development.

The locations for each have been made public.

The Tallahassee Florida Temple will be accessible to the public, special guests, and media prior to its dedication. On Monday, October 28, there will be a media day. On Tuesday and Wednesday, October 29–30, invited guests will be given tours of the temple.

The temple is situated on a 4.97-acre plot of land at 2440 Papillon Way in northeastern Tallahassee, the state capital and largest city in the Florida Panhandle. It is a single-story structure with an approximate floor area of 29,000 square feet. The temple property has a distribution centre next to an existing Church meetinghouse.

The Tallahassee Florida Temple was one of the eight new temples that President Russell M. Nelson announced on April 5, 2020, at the general conference’s closing session. On January 12, 2021, the site’s location and exterior rendering were made public.
